YUNUS&SHIKI SOCIAL BUSINESS RESEARCH CENTER

Join us for Social Business “Re: Start Up” Workshops!

Wonderful guests from NTT WEST and Yoshimoto Kogyo Co., Ltd. SBRC and Fukuoka city co-host “Re: Start Up” Workshops.

Yunus & Shiiki Social Business Research Center (SBRC) at Kyushu University hosted a Social Business RE: Start-up workshop at Fukuoka city Start-up café on September 23rd, 2017. Over 60 people who practice social business or are interested in social business participated in the event.

There were many positive reviews after the workshop. These included the following: “I could confirm that I had been doing social business.”, “I would like to review and make my business plan more realistic.” “I would like to cooperate with other people.” and more. Based on these reviews, more practical workshops will be held.

The workshops target social business owners, potential entrepreneurs and people who are interested in solving social issues in Fukuoka city, the first social business city in Japan. Participants have opportunities to learn the philosophy of Yunus Social Business and its cases and to deeply understand this business method aimed to solve social issues. Yunus Social Business is advocated by Nobel Peace Laureate, Professor Muhammad Yunus to independently and sustainably solve social issues.

The goal of the workshops is to review business models, find problems with current business practices and improve businesses to make them more profitable. The workshops consist of lectures and exercises to look into possible business restructuring. Furthermore, participants learn business structures from a wide range of perspectives by examining some corporate cases including NTT WEST and Yoshimoto Kogyo Co., Ltd.

Practicing social business is considered a challenge though the need is high in society. Let’s make a success of it through the workshops!
