Having the theme ‘Can Wealth Concentration be Stopped?’, the 7th Social Business Day (SBD) was to take place at Samajik Convention Center on July 28 to 29 with 2,000 participants registered from all over the world, but was cancelled in absence of police security.
However, they overcame these setbacks with their strong will and continued the event at a meeting room in Hotel Meridian Dhaka using international media such as live streams and Facebook posts.
Led by a key note speech focused on SDGs by the United Nations Assistant Secretary-General Thomas Gass, this was followed by guest lectures from World Olympians Association (WOA) President Joël Bouzou, Food and Agriculture Association (POA) Director General Jose Graziano da Silva, and Executive Director of the United Nations Environment Programme Erik Solheim. Dr. Yunus empathized the importance of achievement of the vision ‘Three Zeros – zero poverty, zero unemployment, and zero carbon emissions’ in his speech. He continued stating that we all can start with visible examples, and unreached countries have stronger possibilities to accomplish the three zeros.
